Classes Offered
Beginner Sewing
This class teaches the basics of sewing. You will learn how to:
- thread a needle and knot the thread
- hand sew with straight stitches
- pin fabric
- cut fabric
- sew a button
- thread a sewing machine
- operate basic sewing machine functions
- change stitches
- reverse stitch
- sew straight lines
- turn corners
- sew a curve
- sew an age-appropriate project that applies all these skills
Intermediate Sewing
Level 1
This class is for students who have successfully achieved Beginner Sewing skills.
You will learn how to:
- thread a bobbin
- work with seam allowance
- use zig zag stitches
- apply zig zag stitches using an appliqué
- use an iron to make sewing easier
- troubleshoot your sewing machine
- change the straight presser foot to the zipper presser foot
- sew a zipper
- sew an age-appropriate project that applies all these skills
Level 2
This class is for students who have successfully achieved Beginner and Intermediate Sewing 1 skills.
You will learn how to:
- change to a buttonhole presser foot
- sew a buttonhole with a button
- work on an easy pattern
- take measures with a measuring tape
- read a pattern
- choose the right fabric for your project
- pin and cut a pattern
- sew an age-appropriate project that applies all these skills
Advanced Sewing
Level 1
- choose an EASY pattern from our pattern library
- work on your easy pattern with the guidance of an instructor
Level 2
- choose a pattern from our pattern library
- work on your intermediate pattern with the guidance of an instructor
Learning how to sew lets your child express their creativity, learn patience, and take pride in their finished product. Sew Simple’s goal is to have happy, confident children who become great sewers! Because children learn at their own pace, we have projects that are suitable for all ages.
