My passion for sewing began when I was a young girl growing up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My mother was an incredible seamstress who could create just about anything with fabric and thread. I spent countless hours sitting beside her, captivated by how she brought fabric to life on her old black Singer sewing machine. I was eager to learn, but she wouldn’t let me touch that precious machine just yet.
At seven years old, my curiosity and determination got the best of me. I tore apart my doll’s dress and hand-stitched it back together. Proud of my little creation, I showed it to my mother—and that’s when she knew it was time to teach me how to sew. From then on, sewing became our shared passion, and I have so many wonderful memories of those moments together. And yes, when I became skilled enough, I finally earned the right to use that old Singer machine!
Years later, history repeated itself. My daughter, who is now eleven, grew up watching me sew just as I once watched my mother. A few years ago, she asked me to teach her. Soon, her friends joined in, and before I knew it, we were holding regular sewing sessions filled with creativity, laughter, and connection. Word spread quickly that I was teaching sewing classes—and that’s how Sew Simple LLC was born.
At Sew Simple, we believe in more than just stitching fabric; we believe in stitching generations together. Our mission is to pass on the joy, skill, and creativity of sewing—from mother to daughter, and beyond.
